Obituary:

Russell Raymond Christensen, son of the late Raymond Otto and Dorothy Marie (Landwher) Christensen, was born on September 7, 1936 and passed away on June 28, 2012 at his residence near Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness, at 75 years of age.

Russell grew up and attended school in Des Plaines, Illinois.  He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Sebastian in 1958.  Three children were born to this union.

Russell later married Donna Trasatti on September 8, 1973 in Barrington, Illinois.  One son was born to this union.

Russell worked as a carpenter for many years.  From 1991 through 1995, he and Donna operated Donna’s Upper Crust Pizzeria in Mtn. Grove.

He retired after 1995 to his farm where he enjoyed remodeling their house and taking care of his garden.

Russell liked being outdoors, where he spent time enjoying fall deer hunting, horseback riding, and training German Shepherd dogs.  He was also an avid fisherman in his early years and he served on the McHenry County Sheriff’s Posse.

Russell was a Christian and was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston, Missouri, where he served as a trustee and an elder.

He was a family man who was caring and kind and enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.  He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Donald Christensen; and by a sister-in-law: Eloise Christensen..

He is survived by his wife: Donna of their home; three sons: Larry Christensen of Harvard, Illinois, Brandon Christensen and his wife, Janice, of Parsippany, New Jersey, and Eric Christensen and his wife, Tina, of Willard, Missouri; one daughter: Robin Landreth and her husband, Danny, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; two brothers: Jon Christensen and his wife, Eileen, of Mount Prospect, Illinois, and Alan Christensen and his wife, Ann, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
