Roy grew up and attended school in Douglas County, and was united in marriage to Thelma Oleva Goodman on July 1, 1941 in the Oak Forest Community.  Four children were born to this union.  Mrs. Mallernee passed away on October 21, 2009.

Roy was a farmer most all his life.  He enjoyed being outdoors, doing his farm chores and gardening.  He especially liked to grow tomatoes and share them with his family and friends.

He served on the Skyline Volunteer Fire Department for many years.  He enjoyed helping others whenever an opportunity came his way.

Roy was saved and baptized in the mid 1970’s. He helped build the Skyline Full Gospel Church on Highway 76 not far from where he lived.  He was a longtime member of the church and enjoyed attending services and studying the Word of God, especially when discussing the Rapture.

Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son: Dale Mallernee; one daughter: Judy Sparks; an infant brother; and by a sister: Bertha Hutchison; and by an infant sister.

Roy is survived by one son: Randy Mallernee and his wife, Linda, of Mtn. Grove; one daughter: Cathy McGuire and her husband, Bill, of Houston, Missouri; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Mildred Turner of Arkansas; and a host of other relatives and friends will miss him very much.
