He was born July 10, 1938, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Robert F. Dale, Margaret E. (Umphryes) Irwin and his step-father, Guy "Doyle" Irwin.

Jerry owned Dale Painting in Bethalto for many years but was most known for his passion for archery and deer hunting. He founded "The Archery Den" in Wood River and schooled many in archery. He took great pride that he harvested 79 deer for his 79 years of life with a bow. He was a loving father, grandfather, and had many friends he considered family. He spent his retirement days in the wooded hills of Wasola, MO where he was the happiest with his dearest friend, Christy Chase.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert "Bobby" E. Dale and his wife Sandy. Survivors include Shari A. Yates of Bethalto; 3 grandchildren, Sarah B. Chalberg and her husband, Bill of Downers Grove, Amber N. Higgins and her husband, Sean of Bunker Hill, Andrew J. Brooks of Alton; 4 great grandchildren, Grace, Harry, and Ivar Chalberg, Cheyann Higgins; and one sister, Betty Dale and her husband, Jim of Peoria.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Julia’s Banquet Center in East Alton, IL. A memorial in Wasola, MO will be held on Friday, June 15th at 4 p.m. at Jerry’s Farm for close friends and family. BBQ to follow.
