Joyce Ann Coffman

Joyce Ann (Followwill) Coffman, daughter of the late Charley and Helen (Hendricks) Followwill, was born September 13, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa and departed this life February 27, 2018, at her residence in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 77 years, 5 months, and 14 days of age.

Joyce was raised in Buffalo, Iowa and graduated from Buffalo High School. She married Gean Coffman on August 31, 1962, and they were married 49 years before his death in 2012. The couple resided in Buffalo until Gean’s retirement from ALCOA, in which they moved to Missouri. She enjoyed raising her children, spending time with family and friends, and running around town with her beloved sister-in-law, Sandy Coffman. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she enjoyed teaching and participating in Sunday school, vacation Bible school and helping with the church library. In the last few years, Joyce enjoyed going out to eat, playing cards, and spending time with her friend, Shirley Turner.

Besides her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Gean Coffman, three sisters, Jeannette Caudle, Barbara Coffman, and Kathy Coffman, two sons, Bradley and Brant Coffman, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rass and Carrie Coffman, and her sister-in-law, Sandy Coffman.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy McCabe and her significant other, Steve Sparbel, of Buffalo, Iowa, and Jennifer Coffman and her husband, Robert Shurley, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, a very special niece, Tracy Smith and her husband, Kent Rolf, of Calhoun, Missouri, one brother, Greg Followwill of Buffalo, Iowa, two brothers-in-law, Dean Coffman, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Buck Coffman and his wife, Sharon, of Hartville, Missouri, six sisters-in-law, Mable Tetrick of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Patsy Hamilton of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Dottie Perryman of Raymondville, Missouri, Donna Carlson and her husband, Sam, of Florida, Darlene Bradshaw and her husband, Glen, of Norwood, Missouri, and Joyce Sheppard and her husband, Danny, of Hartville, Missouri, two grandchildren, Brooke Kraklio and Blane McCabe of Buffalo, Iowa, 2 step-grandchildren, Jackson and Landon Shurley of Mountain Home, Arkansas, one great-grandchild, Liam Kraklio of Buffalo, Iowa, and her favorite grand-dog Zoey, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss her very much.
