Alice Jane Keene

August 29, 1937 — June 17, 2015

Alice Jane Keene, daughter of the late Lawrence Melvin and Gladys Helen (Smith) Barnes, was born on August 29, 1937 in Pulaski, Virginia, and departed this life on June 17, 2015 at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 77 years, 9 months, and 19 days of age.

Alice was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, and graduated from high school in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1954. She was united in marriage to Max Keene on October 15, 1954 in Fayetteville. Three children were born to this union: Jack, Alex, and Kathryn.

Alice loved to sing and dance. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Alice was very active in the Mountain Grove Full Gospel Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, praise and worship leader, and soloist. Alice worked in the banking and retail industry for many years.

Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Max, on May 10, 2011; and three brothers: Ronald Barnes, Wayne Barnes, and Timothy Barnes.

She is survived by two sons: Jack Keene and his wife, Christie, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Alex Keene and his wife, Gina, of Oxford, Mississippi; one daughter: Kathryn Giordano and her husband, Mike, of Yucaipa, California; thirteen grandchildren: Daniel Keene, Monica Prechter, Timothy Keene, Mary Alice Mason, Leah Chitry, Shaun and Christian Giordano, Maximilian, Augustine, William, Samuel, Lucia, and Juliet Keene; and thirteen great-grandchildren: Danny, Kiersten, and Alice Keene, Jeremy Skipworth, Mackenzie, Olive, Henry, and Alice Prechter, Emmy and Violet Mason, Baylee, Cullen, and Darla Chitry.
