Alice Marie Kingsland

August 17, 1931 — September 1, 2018

Alice Marie (Snavely) Kingsland, daughter of the late Joe Amos and Emily Elizabeth (Stucki) Snavely, was born August 17, 1931, south of Norwood, Missouri, and passed away September 1, 2018, in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by her husband, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Emily Snavely, one son, John Max Kelley, two brothers, Joe Snavely, Jr. and John Snavely, and one sister, Wilma Easter.

Alice is survived by her husband, Harold Kingsland of the home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, two sons, Iris Joe Kelley and his wife, Glinda, of Norwood, Missouri, and Dean Kingsland and his wife, Kimberly, of Centerton, Arkansas, one daughter, Zelta Miller of Temecula, California, two brothers, James Snavely and his wife, Helen, of Hollister, Missouri, and Jerry Snavely and his wife, Judy, of Springfield, Missouri, four sisters, Delta Forrest of Norwood, Missouri, Ilena Willhite and her husband, Leo, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Donna Bennett of Norwood, Missouri, and Brenda McGrotha and her husband, Pat, of Hamilton, Georgia, four grandchildren, Francis Kelley and his wife, Jennifer, of Rogersville, Missouri, Mitzi Campbell and her husband, Brandan, of Norwood, Missouri, Jacob Kelley and his wife, Amanda, of Grandby, Missouri, and Micah Kingsland of Centerton, Arkansas, eight great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.

Alice attended Cornelius School, a one room schoolhouse south of Norwood, through the eighth grade. She then attended Norwood High School, graduating in 1949 as valedictorian.

She married Harold Dean Kingsland on October 11, 1964, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and moved with him to Long Beach, California, where he was stationed in the Navy. Alice lived many places while accompanying him, including Vallejo, California; Whidbey Island, Washington; Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and Great Lakes, Illinois. Following Harold’s retirement in 1976 they made their home in Mountain Grove.

Alice enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing pool and spending valuable time with family and friends.

She was a member of the Waukegan Baptist Church in Waukegan, Illinois, and was baptized at Ewa Beach Baptist Church in Hawaii.
