Alissa Gayle Smith

September 5, 1970 — February 3, 2009

Alissa Gayle Smith, daughter of William Jerry and Beverly Laurine (Morris) Smith, was born on September 5, 1970 in Sacramento, California and departed this life on February 3, 2009 in the Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 38 years, 4 months and 28 days of age.
Gayle grew up and attended school in California and lived most of her life in the Sacramento area. She moved to Vanzant, Missouri in 2005 to be near her family. Gayle had a great laugh and smile. She had a way of expressing herself that was humorous and unique.
She loved her family, rock music and her angel and celestial collections. Although she developed diabetes at age three, she faced the illnesses associated with the disease with her own personal strength to overcome what life had given her.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Beverly Laurine Smith; and by an infant son: Trevor Turner.
She is survived by her husband: Troy Smith of West Plains, Missouri; father: William Jerry Smith; her son: Devin Turner; three sisters: Gloria Smith and Laurine Litchfield, all of Vanzant, Missouri, and Marilyn Davis of Jacksonville, North Carolina; numerous aunts; uncle; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gayle was loveable, cute and sometimes ornery. She is loved and treasured by her family and will be greatly missed.
