Almos 'Cotton' Coffman

February 4, 1924 — April 23, 2015

Almos Cotton Coffman, son of the late Alex and Palestine (Lathrom) Coffman, was born on February 4, 1924 in Protem, Missouri, and passed away on April 23, 2015 in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, Missouri, at 91 years of age.


Almos grew up in Taney and Wright Counties. He lived in California and Michigan before purchasing his farm in Manes, Missouri, where he lived for nearly sixty years. He spent the last two years in the Hartville Care Center where he made many friends and was very well cared for.


He married Wilma Willhite on June 15, 1948 in Mountain Grove. Three children were born to this union. Wilma passed away on February 24, 2005.


Almos served his country in the Army in World War II. He was a hard working farmer. He was also a construction worker building roads, bridges, and buildings across Missouri. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on the farm raising beef cattle, and gardening. He greatly enjoyed time spent with family. Almos was a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews.


Almos professed his faith in Jesus Christ and attended church and read his Bible as long as his health allowed.


Besides his parents and his wife, Almos was preceded in death by an infant daughter; seven brothers: Jerry, John, Otis, Rufus, Aubury, Chester, and Roy; two sisters: Nettie Willhite and Edna Willhite.


Almos is survived by two sons: Dwayne Coffman of Mountain Grove and Jerry Coffman-Ham and his wife, Donnelyn, of Spokane, Washington; one daughter: Karen Dugger and her husband, Larry, of Lebanon, Missouri; one brother-in-law: Ual Willhite; one sister-in-law: Jewell Alumbaugh; four grandchildren: Trent, Payte, Ben, and Jae; two great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.


Visitation: Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Chapel.

Funeral Service: Monday, April 27, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel.

Burial: Green Mountain Cemetery
