Bessie Adelaide Cunningham

Bessie Adelaide Cunningham, daughter of William Cunningham, Sr. and Adelaide Mary Cunningham, of Mountain Grove, Missouri and passed away on January 6, 2013 at Springfield Rehab and Health Care Center in Springfield, Missouri, after a long period of disability.
Bessie was born near Mountain Grove, Missouri on August 29, 1929. She attended Sunday School and Church in Mountain Grove, and accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Mountain Grove Schools and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1948.
As she was growing up, Bessie was employed as a waitress for Antler's Cafe in Mountain Grove. Later, she worked at the Mountain Grove Nursing Home, helping to care for its residents. Bessie lived with her mother and later helped care for her. When Brown Shoe Company opened a plant in Mountain Grove, Bessie was employed by them for several years in the manufacturing of shoes. When her health became a problem, she retired and became a resident of the Mountain Grove Retirement Home. As she appeared to have had a stroke and was no longer ambulatory, she became a resident of Springfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Springfield, Missouri.
She had a nice relationship with the employees of the Center and was affectionately known as “Miss Bessie.” Before becoming disabled, she always had a smile for people and was always willing to help those in need. She had many friends. It was her belief that God is always there with us and would not fail to help us. He will see us through when asked.
Bessie is survived by her brother: Bill Cunningham of Springfield, Missouri; two nieces and one nephew of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and two nieces and one nephew of Springfield, Missouri; and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

in Mtn. Grove.

January 10th in the funeral home.
