Betty Geraldine (Sutton) Brown

Betty Geraldine Brown, daughter of the late Fred E. and Eunice Olive (Rutter) Sutton, was born on February 21, 1931 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and departed this life on November 11, 2013 in the Willow Lane Care Center in Butler, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 82 years, 8 months and 21 days of age.
Betty grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove. She was united in marriage to William “Mitchell” Brown on June 2, 1949 in Cabool, Missouri. Three daughters were born to this union.
Betty was employed for several years by the Brown Shoe Company in Mtn. Grove. She and Mitchell later owned and operated Browns Grocery Store and gas station for many years.
Betty and Mitchell moved to Nixa Missouri in the early 1970’s, where they started B&B Insulation Company and retired in 1989.
Betty moved to Protem, Missouri and later returned to the Nixa area. She loved music throughout her life and after receiving her first paycheck from her first job, she purchased a guitar, which she enjoyed. She also liked being outdoors, especially when fishing, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens each year. She loved cooking and going shopping with her granddaughters.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Brown on July 29, 1995; and by three sisters: Sherry Sutton, Marcia Head, and Shirley Hunsaker.
She is survived by her daughters: Linda Jensen of Butler, Missouri, Mickey Woodrow and her husband, Brad, of Congress, Arizona, and Janice Crouch and her husband, Steve, of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers: Larry Sutton and his wife, Evelyn, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jerry Sutton and his wife, Sharyn, of Mtn. Grove; four sisters: Jan Hall and her husband, Earl, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mona Scheeter of Sikeston, Missouri, Violet Cavaness and her husband, Tom, of Houston, Missouri, and Cathy Freeman and her husband, Larry, of Springfield, Missouri; two granddaughters: Jamilin Chainey and Misty Crow; two great-grandchildren: Laenii Crow and Khamin Crow; and other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.

Friday, November 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
