Betty Lou Johnson

Betty Lou Johnson, daughter of the late Roy L. Hutson and the late Maude M. Arnold, was born on March 29, 1934 in Mountain Grove, Missouri and departed this life on January 28, 2015 in Lyons, Kansas. She was 80 years, 9 months, 30 days of age.

Betty grew up in Mountain Grove, Missouri and lived in various places throughout her life, such as St. Louis, Missouri, Compton, California, Santa Clara, California, Marysville, California, Norwood, Missouri, and Lyons, Kansas. Betty was united in marriage to John William Bill Johnson on December 18, 1951, in Hartville, Missouri. Four children were born to this union: John, Kathy, Dwayne, and James David.

Betty had many occupations throughout her lifetime, including Assembly Line Operator, Telephone Answering Operator, and in Cannery Operations. She greatly enjoyed working with her hands, cake decorating, and being a Cub Scout den mother. Betty eventually retired with her husband and relocated from California to a small farm in Norwood, Missouri.

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband: John William Bill Johnson; one brother: Troy Hutson; two sisters: Goldie Baer and Maxine Holt; and one grandson: James Barbour.

Betty is survived by three sons: John R. Johnson and his wife, Gloria, of Littleton, Colorado, Dwayne S. Johnson and his wife, Debbie, of Woodland Park, Colorado, and James David Johnson and his wife, Nancy, of Lebanon, Missouri; one daughter: Kathy J. Warta and her husband, Loren, of Yuba City, California; two brothers: Donald Hutson of Alton, Missouri, and Leroy Hutson of Mountain Grove, Missouri; two sisters: Nellie Aldridge of Crystal City, Missouri, and Sylvia Pyle of Mansfield, Missouri; 16 grandchildren: John M. Johnson, Danica G. Huddleston, Brian F. Warta, Sarah Proudfoot, Tim Warta, Matthew Warta, Ashlie Ithurburn, Katelynne Warta, Cody Warta, Leandra Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Kathryn Worrell, Jennifer Dawson, Christopher Riedel, Gary Barbour, and Cassidy Johnson; 27 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.


Visitation: Monday, February 2, 2015 in the Chapel from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in the Chapel at 11:00 AM

Burial: Lone Star Cemetery
South Hwy 95, Mountain Grove

Memorial Contributions: The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Springfield, Missouri c/o the funeral home.
