Beverly Sue Lathrom

Beverly Sue Lathrom, Sue to everyone that knew her, was born at home in Douglas County, Missouri, on January 13, 1944. She was called to Heaven in the early morning hours of August 3, 2015, after a spirited and miraculous battle.
She is survived by her daughter: Carla Mayfield and her husband, Rob, of Seymour, Missouri; two sons: Faron Lathrom of Lebanon, Missouri, and Lonnie Lathrom and his wife, Andrea, of Hartville, Missouri; five grandchildren: Jessica Chilson of Niangua, Missouri, Kyle Mayfield of Camp Pendleton, California and his wife Jacqui of Fordland, Missouri, Launa, Lauren and Lucas Lathrom of Hartville, Missouri; four great-grandchildren: Hailly and Shelby Chilson and Marshall and Oliver Mayfield; three sisters: Edna Mae Milsap of Independence, Missouri, Wilma Adamson of Springfield, Missouri and Dorothy Adamson of Rogersville, Missouri; as well as many other family, friends, church family, and dear neighbors.
On August 10, 1962, Sue married Lane Lathrom. The couple resided in Hartville until moving to the family farm just east of town, where they started a dairy operation and raised their children. She was no stranger to the hard work of milking, feeding, and all the other essential chores that farm life brings at all hours of the long endless days.
Sue was saved in her youth and as an adult was very active in the church until her health kept her from being so. For many years Sue and her family attended Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Wright County. After Lanes passing in 2006, Sue moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she lived the remainder of her years. She enjoyed her new church, Macedonia Baptist, and made many new friends there.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and shopping with her sister, Wilma, who lived nearby, and the new freedoms she had without hungry cattle to feed.
Sue was also known for her cooking, and the familiar question soon after being welcomed to her home, are you hungry? There was always a big meal, especially on Sundays when family would gather after church. She was also well known by the boys friends for her hamburgers as being the best.
Sue truly had a caring heart and even in her last days, when it was laborious to talk, she made sure everyones needs were met.
The extent of her quiet, selfless ministry, prayers, and the number of lives she has impacted directly or indirectly will never be fully realized until we are called to join her in Heaven.


Visitation: Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Funeral Service: Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church. (Oak Grove is located approximately 9 miles north of Norwood on E Hwy.)

Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Norwood, Missouri.
