Bobby Borden

Bobby Lynn Borden, son of the late Robert Bryant and Thelma Ruth (Freeman) Borden, was born September 5, 1950, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and went to his heavenly home October 13, 2022, in Springfield, Missouri. He was 72 years, 1 month, and 8 days of age.

Bobby grew up in Mountain Grove and graduated with the Mountain Grove High School class of 1968. Following high school Bobby attended what is now known as Missouri State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He then began teaching high school history classes. While in college he joined the ROTC and later enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. He performed his basic training at Ft. Polk, Louisiana, and his advanced individual training at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. Bobby was honorably discharged on September 29, 1978, with the rank of Specialist Fifth Class. Bobby then went back to teaching and taught for sixteen years at various schools before deciding to change career fields. He then went to work for American National in the warehouse. Bobby was united in marriage to Sarah Vaughan on June 1, 1979, in Mountain Grove.

Bobby enjoyed playing fast pitch and slow pitch softball in his younger days and was a very good athlete. His greatest passion in life was serving Jesus Christ. He was saved and baptized at the age of eleven. Later in life he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher and Wednesday night Bible study teacher for many years at Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church of Mountain Grove. After moving to Springfield sixteen years ago, Bobby and Sarah have been attending Graceway Baptist Church of Springfield.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of over 43 years, Sarah Borden, cousins, Glenda Bell and husband, Raymond, of Norwood, Missouri, Jana Neuroth and husband, Darrel, also of Norwood, Judy Clark of Branson, Missouri, Barbara Sheppard and husband, Ted, of Mountain Grove, Mary Jane Coonts also of Mountain Grove, Susan Wurner of Olympia, Washington, and Evelyn Knight of Oregon, as well as many friends and church family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
