Bonnie Marie Maxwell, daughter of the late Cyrus and Mary (Atchley) Baty, was born on August 10, 1916 in a little log house in the woods in Texas County. She passed away on February 26, 2016 at Country Living Assisted Living in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at 99 years of age.
Bonnie attended rural schools through the eighth grade. She then went to high school at Gravel Point and at Houston and graduated from Houston High School. She attended college at Southwest Missouri State and graduated with a teachers certificate in 1950. Bonnie began her teaching career in 1935 which spanned a total of 37 years. Bonnie married Lonzo Maxwell on April 13, 1943 in San Luis Obispo, California. They moved to Missouri in 1945. Bonnie and Lonzo never had children, but many childrens lives were influenced by Bonnies dedication to teaching and encouraging them.
Bonnie was saved and baptized at a young age and was very active in church all of her life.
Bonnie was very excited when she learned that Mountain Grove was getting an assisted living facility and was the first to sign up to live there. She loved her life at Country Living Assisted Living and the friendships she made there. She loved the entire staff, especially DeAnn, Tammy, and Joe.
