Brenda Lou Mcbride

Brenda Lou McBride, Daughter of James L. Sivils, Sr. and Verba Clinkingbeard Sivils, was born November 27, 1944, in Ava, Missouri, and departed this life on June 17, 2022, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 20 days.

On January 14, 1964, she was united in marriage to Jerry Dean McBride, and to this union 3 children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jim Sivils, and sister, Betty Sivils.

Brenda is survived by a daughter, Denise Wilkinson, and husband, Mike, of Springfield, Missouri; sons, Scott McBride, and wife, Lori, and Doug McBride, all of Seymour, Missouri; grandchildren, Larrissa McBride, Jerry McBride, Alicia McBride, Maggie Wilkinson, Sean Wilkinson, and Jennifer Wilkinson-Carey; great-grandchildren, Kimberlei McBride, Emmalei McBride, Katie Carey, Jason Carey, Mickayla Carey, Connor Wilkinson, and Mason Wilkinson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was born and raised in Ava where she graduated from Ava High School in the Class of 1962. She then received her associates degree in Early Childhood Development and had worked at OACAC (Headstart). She also had worked for many years at H.D. Lee Factory in Seymour.

Brenda had made a profession of faith in Christ many years ago and was a member of Cedar Gap Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher.

In her spare time, she loved sewing, baking, gardening, listening to gospel music and going to concerts with her friends. She was an animal lover, especially of frogs earning her the nickname the “Frog Lady”.

Brenda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend.

A celebration of life luncheon will be at noon on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Cedar Gap Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the “Kings Food Pantry” in Seymour or to make contributions themselves. She will be laid to rest with her husband on the family farm.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Seymour.
