Brodie Newton Baney

January 6, 1920 — March 1, 2013

Brodie Newton Baney, son of the late Oscar and Amy (Murr) Baney, was born on January 6, 1920 in Texas County, Missouri and passed away on March 1, 2013 at 1:30 PM in the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at 93 years of age.
Brodie grew up and attended school in Missouri. He serviced his country in the United States Marine Corp, enlisting on November 28, 1941 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal on November 27, 1945 in San Diego, California. He served during World War II as a Mortar Crewman, Paratrooper, and a Rifle Marksmanship Instructor. He was stationed in the Pacific area from 1942 to 1945, participating in action against the enemy in The Northern Solomon Islands; Iwo Jima; New Georgia Group, and the Occupation of Japan.
Following his discharge from the military, Brodie entered the plumbing profession and worked until his retirement in 1975.
He made his home in Apache Junction, Arizona for several years and later moved to the Cabool, Missouri area, where he had lived in the Pineview Heights apartments for the last five years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Sterlin Baney; and by one sister: Ruby Jewell Baker.
He is survived by one brother: Eulas E. Baney of Fort Madison, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives, neighbors and friends who will sadly miss him.
