Buell E. Ramsey

Buell Eugene Ramsey, son of the late Dewey Cleveland and Livla L. (Shaver) Ramsey, was born August 11, 1936, in Ingram, Arkansas, and departed this life July 23, 2018, at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 81 years, 11 months, and 12 days of age.

Buell grew up in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and graduated with the Pocahontas High School Class of 1954. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Tucker on December 27, 1962, in Pocahontas. Two children were born to this union.

He worked thirty-nine and one half years for the Brown Shoe Company in Pocahontas, Arkansas, Owensville, Missouri, and Mountain Grove, Missouri, before retiring in 1994. Throughout his career, Buell worked as a cutting room operator, foreman, assistant superintendent, superintendent, and was working as a trial and sample operator at the time of the plant closing.

Buell was a good Christian man who loved his family dearly. His grandkids and great-grandkids held a very special place in his heart. He also greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed working in his yard. He was known as the “yard man”. It was highly speculated that he used a ruler and scissors in order to keep his yard so uniform. He definitely took great pride in a well-groomed yard.

Buell was baptized in 1993 at the Church of Christ in Mountain Grove.

Besides his parents, Buell was preceded in death by one brother, Cleveland Ramsey.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy Ramsey of the home, one son, Gary Ramsey and wife, Janet, of Mountain Grove, one daughter Gerrie Hart and husband, Jim, of Creighton, Missouri, five grandchildren, Jaime Wolford and husband, Josh, Nick Ramsey and wife, Katie, Jennifer Hart, Jeffery Hart, and Kaitlyn Ramsey, eight great-grandchildren, Myles, Kaylee, Blake, Max, Sophie, Jack, Sam, and Skye, one sister-in-law, Pauline Ramsey of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
