Calvin Earnest Barnes, son of Stella Aletha (McGuire) Barnes and the late Clint Barnes, was born August 15, 1938 in Lynchburg, Missouri and departed this life on September 18, 2010 in St. John’s Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri after a long illness. He was 72 years, 1 month, and 3 days of age.
Calvin grew up in the Lynchburg community and graduated from Plato High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jarrett on March 9, 1960 in Mountain Grove. One son was born to this union
Calvin was a plumber most of his life. In 1977, he and Robert Ratterree opened Ratterree and Barnes Pump and Plumbing and they operated it until their retirement in 2000. Calvin loved to coon, turkey and deer hunt. He was also an avid fisherman. He and Barbara enjoyed many fishing trips to Norfork Lake together. Calvin loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Calvin was preceded in death by his father: Clint Barnes; and by one sister: Doris Lee.
He is survived by his loving wife of their home: Barbara; his son and daughter-in-law: Bret and Carol Barnes of Mountain Grove; his mother: Aletha Barnes , also of Mountain Grove; one brother: Junior Barnes and his wife, Donna, of Macomb, Missouri; one sister: Reeta Benkert and her husband, Patrick, of Vanzant, Missouri; two grandchildren: Bobby and Bridgett Barnes; three great-grandchildren: Mia Gonzales, Kaydn Gonzales, and Addison Barnes; and a host of other family friends who will miss him dearly.
