Carla Jean Collins

Carla Jean Davis Collins was born on March 29, 1949 in Mexico, Missouri. On August 26, 1955 she joined the George E. and Fae Davis household as a family member. She started first grade at Vanzant School and graduated from Cabool High School in 1967.
Carla was an outdoors person. She had concern for and a special way with animals, especially horses. If she’d had her way, no kitten or puppy would ever be destroyed. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl, and was baptized and became a member of the Pleasant Home Freewill Baptist Church.
On July 26, 1970, she was united in marriage to Michael J. Collins. Two children were born to this union, Christopher Joseph and Mary Rene’.
Carla’s health problems started early in life. She battled chronic bronchitis for years. She spent several years in Arizona where the climate was kinder to her condition. She succumbed to the cares of this life in the evening hours of September 5, 2007 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 58 years, 5 months, and 7 days.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1995.
Surviving are her two children: Chris and Rene’ Collins, both of Springfield, Missouri; four grandsons: Michael, Derrick, Taylor, and Skyler; her mother: Fae Davis of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one sister: Bonnie Lincoln and her husband, Al, of Cabool, Missouri; two nephews and two nieces; Also surviving are her ex-sisters-in-law who have gone beyond the call of duty to be supportive and helpful to her.
We love you, Carla, and will miss you. Your going has again reminded us just how fragile and temporary life on earth really is. We need to treasure moments and memories, not things. Heaven is now a much dearer place because you are there. It won’t be very long until your saved family will join you, one by one in a far better world than the one we leave behind.
