Carol Ann Freeman

Carol Ann Freeman, daughter of the late Warren Henry and Dorothy Nora (Lybyer) Ragsdale, was born May 16, 1944 in Texas County, Missouri, and departed this life May 23, 2017 in Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri after a short illness. She was 73 years and 8 days of age.
Carol Ann was raised in the Bendavis Community, attended Murr School, and graduated from Houston High School in 1962. She married Edwin Lowell Freeman on May 30, 1962. Four children were born to this union: Bridget, Mark, Donny, and Darren.
Carol Ann worked as a beautician out of her home for several years. She also worked as Deputy Assessor at the Texas County Courthouse from 1984-1993. In 1993 she became the Executive Director of Wri-Tex 911. She retired in 2006. At the time of her passing, she was the Texas County 911 Board President.
Carol Ann was always a homemaker, farmer’s wife, and wonderful mom. She loved to sew, quilt, and cook for her family and friends. Carol Ann was saved and baptized at a young age. She was a very dedicated and active member of New Rock Springs Church for many years, serving as Secretary, Clerk, and Sunday School Teacher. She loved her church family and cherished being a part of the New Rock Springs Church. She also coordinated and hosted both the Freeman and Ragsdale reunions every year and was a member of Gideon’s Women’s Auxiliary of Texas County.
Carol Ann greatly enjoyed her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, Carol Ann was preceded in death by a nephew, J.D. Ragsdale.
She is survived by her loving husband of their home, Edwin, three sons, Mark Freeman and his wife, Brenda, Donny Freeman and his wife, Leta, and Darren Freeman and his wife, Shelley, and one daughter, Bridget Robertson and her husband, Jerrell, all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one brother, Larry Ragsdale and his wife, Peggy, of Cabool, Missouri, one sister, Nora Lou Gleason and her husband, Jim, of Phoenix, Arizona, nine grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Joshua and his wife, Melissa, Levi and his wife, Jordyn, Addison, Brandon, Andrea and her husband, Jason, Rusty and his wife, Nina, and William, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many other relatives, neighbors, friends, and church family.
