Carol L. Strunk

August 12, 1930 — June 7, 2008

Carol Lee Strunk, daughter of the late Benjamin and Beulah (Stevens) Heeger, was born on August 12, 1930 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and departed this life on June 7, 2008 in the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri. She was 77 years, 9 months, and 26 days of age.
Carol grew up in Wright County and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Billy Strunk on April 9, 1952 in Salem, Arkansas. Three children were born to this union. They moved to Independence, Missouri for a few years and later moved back to the Mtn. Grove area.
She was employed by Toblin-Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield, Missouri and retired after several years.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Carol enjoyed reading books, especially a good suspense filled mystery. She also enjoyed going to the Mtn. Grove Senior Center everyday for lunch. While at the center she liked playing dominos and cards with her many friends throughout the afternoons. They also enjoyed the special music and dances at the center.
Carol faithfully attended the Calvary Temple Church and enjoyed the services and singing until her health started failing.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Bill Strunk on October 11, 2003; and by her son: Bobby Strunk.
She is survived by two daughters and their spouses: Linda and Allen Hamilton of Cabool, Missouri, and Joan and Lewis Sparks of Elkland, Missouri; one sister: June Austin of Manes, Missouri; a sister-in-law: Merry Bell Strunk of Norwood, Missouri; seven grandchildren and their spouses: Chris and Kathi Davis, Rory Davis, Haylee Davis, Brandon Atchison, Luke Atchison, Bobby Ray and Stachia Strunk, Chad and Brooke Strunk, Brett Hamilton, and Holly Jenkins; eight great-grandchildren: Brianna, Broderick, and Braxton Davis, Hunter and Katie Strunk, Alexas Jenkins, and Makenzie and Kacey Strunk; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services for Carol Strunk were held Tuesday, June 10, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Bill Morris officiating. Linda Hamilton sang “”He Touched Me,” and “I Bowed On Knees.” Pallbearers were Chris Davis, Rory Davis, Luke Atchison, Brandon Atchison, Bobby ray Strunk and Chad Strunk. Full military honors were provided as the cemetery by The Lima Burial Detail, The American Legion Post 30 with Jared Moore serving as bugler. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
