Caroline June Mitchell

September 21, 1943 — February 22, 2009

Caroline June Mitchell, daughter of Harold Henry and Ruth Ella (Wagner) Matthis, was born on September 21, 1943 in Livingston, Montana, and departed this life following a short illness on February 22, 2009 at her residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She was 65 years, 5 months and 1 day of age.
In her youth, Caroline was raised in Three Forks, Montana. She moved with her family to Mtn. Grove, Missouri and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to Loyd Mitchell on November 8, 1962 in Simmons, Missouri in Texas County. Three children were born to this union. They made their home in the Simmons Community for several years and moved to the Mtn. Grove area in the early 1990’s.
Caroline was known as a master gardener and an avid quilter. She was a member of the Piney River Quilt Guild and the Ozark Piece Makers Quilt Guild.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and visiting with her family and friends. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Caroline accepted Christ as her Savior in March of 1966 while living in Kansas. She was a longtime member of the Simmons Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father: Harold H. Matthis.
Caroline is survived by her loving husband: Loyd Mitchell of their home; two sons: Harold Mitchell and his wife, Carla, of Houston, Missouri and Sam Mitchell and his wife, Cindy, of Clancy, Montana; one daughter: Amy Mariassov and her husband, Dmitri, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; one sister: Delores Key of Forsyth, Missouri; six grandchildren: Wendy Sholtz, Stephanie Mitchell, Melissa Miller, Justin Mitchell, Aleks Mariassov and Lucas Mariassov; her mother: Ruth Matthis of Cabool, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral Services:
Wednesday, February 25, at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Tuesday, February 24, 7:00 - 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
Burial:
Lone Star Cemetery
Donations/Contributions:
Texas County Hospice of Care c/o the funeral home.
