Carolyne Marie Doane

September 23, 1940 — May 23, 2023

Carolyne Marie Doane, daughter of Fred and Doris (Butcher) Stanberry, was born September 23, 1940, in Denison, Texas, and departed this life on May 23, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, at the age of eighty-two.

On May 4, 1959, she was married to the love of her life, John B. Doane, and to this union two children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Lonnie, her granddaughter, Jana, great-granddaughter, Hendrix, and her husband, John.

Carolyne is survived by her son, Harold “Jon” Doane and wife, Sherri, of Ava, daughter, Lynn Young and husband, Michael, of Springfield, two grandchildren, Justin Doane of Ava, Ashley Smart and husband, Nathan, of Strafford, Jana’s husband, Dakota Caudill, of Springfield, five great-grandchildren, Tanner, Shelby, Aubrey, Grayson and Sloane, her sister, Donna Henson, and many nieces and nephews she adored.

Carolyne was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, managing their home while John served our country. She moved her family many times to Alaska, Georgia, Nebraska, Germany, Illinois, and Texas.

Upon John’s retirement in 1988, they settled at the farm in Mansfield, Missouri, where Carolyne helped establish the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 128 and continued her service to become the President of ALA for the state of Missouri from 2000-2001. Her passion for her country led to not only many years of service to ALA but countless hours of dedication to Eight and Forty as well. She remained an active member of ALA all her life.

The only thing Carolyne loved more than serving, was her family. She spent as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her beloved sister, Donna. Her gracious and giving heart will be missed by so many.
