Charles 'Dan' Wooley

Charles “Dan” Daniel Wooley, son of the late Charles and Ola (Thornhill) Wooley, was born on August 27, 1931 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 80 years of age.
Dan grew up in the Mtn. Grove Community. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Dan was united in marriage to Della “Joan” (Day) on May 10, 1952 in Mexico, Missouri. Ten children were born to this union. Dan and Joan lived in a number of places over the continental United States with children being born in Mississippi, Kansas, Texas, and Oregon. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary a few days ago on May 10th.
Dan furthered his education by getting his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, and his Master’s Degree from the Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. He was an air traffic controller at Love Field in Dallas, Texas, prior to moving to Oregon to get his Master’s Degree. After receiving this degree, he was a horticulturist at the University of Missouri Extension in Mt. Vernon until his retirement in the mid 1990’s.
Dan and Joan moved to the Lebanon area several years ago. In his spare time, Dan enjoyed gardening, and wood working. He built their home in rural Lebanon, which they have enjoyed very much.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lebanon, Missouri.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: June Clark; one daughter: Julie Wooley; and by a granddaughter: Sara Briseno.
Dan is survived by his loving wife: Joan Wooley of their home; his nine children: Robin Moeck and her husband, Randy, Valerie Briseno and her husband, Mario, Steven Wooley and his wife, Jennifer, Alison Rojas and her husband, Dan, Jennifer Smith and her husband, Dave, Tim Wooley and his wife, Michele, Heather Haight and her husband, Brandon, Stuart Wooley and his wife, Ranae, and Andrew Wooley and his wife, Stacie; thirty-three grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two sisters; Virginia Revels and her husband, Richard, and Sue Lovelace and her husband, Patrick; and a host of other relatives, friends, church family, and neighbors who will miss him very much.
