Charles Ray Stowers

August 13, 1956 — August 8, 2012

Charles Ray Stowers, son of Virgil “Monk" and Dorothy (Croney) Stowers, was born on August 13, 1956 in Drury, Missouri, and passed away on August 8, 2012 in the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, following complications from leukemia, at 55 years of age.
Charles grew up in West Plains, Missouri, hunting, fishing, and playing sports. He was united in marriage to Judy Mae Barks on September 26, 1974 in West Plains, Missouri. Two children were born to this union.
Charles enjoyed spending his weekends playing in ball tournaments with his brothers, nephews, and son, along with his wife and daughter in the stands cheering him on. He also spent time hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
When Charles wasn’t with his family, you could always count on finding him with his best friend, Ed.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He loved teaching them how to hunt and fish, and always looked forward to their next camping trip or outing. But of course he loved to spoil the grandbabies in ridiculous ways more than anything. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Charles was preceded in death by one brother: James Stowers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years: Judy Mae Barks-Stowers; two children: Charles Ray Stowers II and Danielle Stowers-Smith and her husband, Daniel; four grandchildren: Kyanah Stowers, Charlie Raye Stowers, Kylie Smith, and Dalton Smith; his father and mother: Virgil "Monk" and Dorothy Croney-Stowers; one brother: Virgil Linn Stowers and his wife, Lora; three sisters: Glenda Collins and her husband, Charles, Vurna White and her husband, Dale, and Vivian Stowers; a sister-in-law: Kay Woods and her husband, Harold; his best friend: Ed Ratterree and his wife, Sherri; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
