Charles 'Wallace' Greenfield

October 23, 1930 — March 3, 2011

Charles Wallace Greenfield, son of the late Gay and Juanita (McClellen) Greenfield, was born on October 23, 1930 in Flint, Michigan, and passed from this life on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following an extended illness. He was 80 years, 4 months and 10 days of age.
Wallace moved from Michigan to Fort Smith, Arkansas with his family at a young age. He attended the Carnell Grade School and graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1949. While in high school he was active in the 4-H Club.
He was united in marriage to Hattie “Alline” Ussery on May 12, 1949 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Three children were born to this union; Allen, Paul and Mary Jane.
Wallace served his country in the Arkansas National Guard. Following his honorable discharge, he moved his family to Klondyke, Arizona, where he worked for the Athletic Mining Company. He was a zinc and lead miner for seven years. While living there, he was a founding member of the Klondyke Conservative Baptist Church where he served as an ordained Deacon.
Wallace and Alline moved their family to Norwood, Missouri in 1957. He was a dairy farmer and he also worked for the MFA Company in Mtn. Grove for almost four decades before his retirement.
Wallace served as a Deacon for several years in the Union Grove (Caudle) Church near Norwood, and later became a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mtn. Grove. He was active in many church functions such as the Methodists Men’s Club, a trustee and he also served in Bible School and helped with the Christmas programs.
He was a board member for Norwood School for several years and during his terms he served as Board Member, Vice President and President. Wallace always took great interest in education and community involvement.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and gardening. He especially enjoyed the hunting trips to Colorado with his sons. He also liked to do woodworking in his spare time.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister: Lillian Moran of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a brother-in-law: Kenneth Staton of Van Buren, Arkansas; a niece: Suzanne Staton, also of Van Buren, Arkansas; and by a great-grandson: Trevor James Greenfield.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years: Alline Greenfield of their home; his children: Allen and Carol Greenfield of Srafford, Missouri, Paul and Linda Greenfield of Norwood, Missouri, and Mary Jane and Duane Laub of Norwood, Missouri; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one brother: Ed Greenfield and his wife, Margaret Ann, of Green Bay, Wisconsin; one sister: Ruth Morisson of Van Buren, Arkansas; several nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends.
He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

No Formal Visitation - Friends may call at their convenience in the funeral home on Friday, March 4th, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
