Cheryl Ann (Gibson) Scherer

September 22, 1945 — May 28, 2014

Cheryl Ann Scherer, daughter of the late James Aubrey and Juanita (Vaughn) Gibson, was born on September 22, 1945 in Albany, California, and departed this life on May 28, 2014 in the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri, following an extended illness. She was 68 years, 8 months and 6 days of age.
Cheryl grew up in Texas, New Mexico, California and Missouri. She attended Mtn. Grove High School. She married Frank Scherer. Three daughters were born to this union. Following the death of her first husband, Cheryl was united in marriage to his brother, Gail Bud Scherer on March 3, 1973. One son was born to this union. They raised their family and made their home in Douglas County, Missouri.
Cheryl was employed for the Brown Shoe Company and later for the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove. She spent most of her time as a homemaker, taking care of her family. She enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, doing yard work and going camping. She enjoyed keeping busy, crocheting, doing crafts of all kinds, and refinishing furniture.
Cheryl also enjoyed taking care of those around her and helping them whenever she could. She would take her family and friends to their doctor appointments, or anywhere else they needed to go.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Cheryl was a longtime member of the Victory Methodist Church in Vanzant, Missouri, where her husband, Bud, is the pastor. She enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Adeana Kay Dickison.
She is survived by her loving husband: Rev. Gail Bud Scherer of their home; her two daughters: Anita Pauline Thorton of Vanzant, Missouri, and Alisha Repich and her husband, Daniel, of Austin, Texas; her son: James Scherer of Chicago, Illinois; two grandchildren: Patrick Thorton and Vanessa Corbin; two great-grandchildren: Jacob Michael Mallinger and Chloe Elizabeth Thorton; three brothers: Troy Gibson and his wife, Brenda, of Vilonia, Arkansas, Winfred Miller and his wife, Barbara, of Farmington, New Mexico, and Glendon Gibson of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister: Debbie Ward of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; her church family and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation:
Friday, May 30th from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
