Clarence 'Sonny' Melvin Dobson

Clarence Melvin “Sonny” Dobson, son of the late Melvin Jennings and Veneta (Fletcher) Dobson, was born on December 3, 1944 in Texas County, Missouri and departed this life on Monday, August 20, 2012 in the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 67 years, 8 months, and 17 days of age.
Sonny grew up in the Mtn. Grove Community and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1962. He was united in marriage to Ruby McDaris in 1964. Four children were born to this union.
Sonny was employed by the Coke Bottling Company for a few years. He later worked for Meeks Lumber Company and retired as a yard supervisor following forty-six years of employment.
He loved being outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing. He also liked to work and put up hay every year.
Sonny loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them and visiting with his many friends. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion: Anna Palmer.
He is survived by two sons: Michael Dobson of Hartville, Missouri, and Mark Dobson of Mtn. Grove; two daughters: Reba Fox and her husband, Fred, of Springfield, Missouri, and Angela Michael and her husband, Kevin, of Fordland, Missouri; two sisters: Doris McCune and her husband, Frank, and Delores Shelton and her husband, Rick, all of Mtn. Grove; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
