Danny Joe Coonts

Danny Joe Coonts, son of the late Burrell and Zella Mae (Dennis) Coonts, was born on August 2, 1946 in Evans, Missouri, and passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at his residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 67 years of age.
Danny Joe grew up in Douglas County and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School.
He was an over-the-road truck driver for many years. Danny Joe, known to those around him as “Hillbilly Joe,” liked to wheel and deal and to barter and trade.
His other favorite pastimes were playing cards, family gatherings, mushroom hunting, telling stories, stretching the truth and telling tall tales.
Danny Joe had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed making those around him laugh.
He was a kind and caring son, brother, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son: Tommy Joe Coonts of Drury, Missouri; his granddaughter, Amanda Joe Coonts of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, who was very special to him and was his pride and joy; David Coonts and his companion, Sue Davis, of Cabool, Missouri, Donnie Coonts and his wife, Darlene, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Dean Coonts and his wife, Merrie, of Vanzant, Missouri; two sisters: Diann Smith and her husband, Danny, of Vanzant, Missouri, and Darla Beltz and her husband, Jim, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; and other relatives and friends.
