Darell Edward Ellison

July 3, 1963 — January 18, 2020

Darell Edward Ellison Sr., son of the late James Edward Jr. and DeLois Ann (Britt) Ellison, was born July 3, 1963 in West Plains, Missouri, and departed this life January 18, 2020 in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 56 years, 6 months, and 16 days of age.

Darell was married to Pauline Novak on April 30, 1986, in Texas. Three children were born to this union: Darell “Pete” Ellison Jr., Joshua Ellison, and a stillborn baby girl. Darell and his family made Texas their home.

Darell was a hard worker and had many trades. He spent most of his life doing construction work and also spent time working in the refinery industry. Darell enjoyed construction work and continued until his health finally prevented him from doing so.

Darell grew up in many places, attending school in Missouri, Tennessee, Iowa, and Texas. Later in life he eventually moved back to Missouri and settled in Mountain Grove.

Darell loved “wheeling and dealing”, tinkering with cars, remodeling houses, barbequing, and boating with his sons and best friend, Ron. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. He was also known to complain about anything and couldn’t pass up a good argument. To some, Darell may have appeared shy, however, he had a personality filled with orneriness and could always make people laugh.

Darell was preceded in death by his parents and stillborn infant daughter.

He is survived by Pauline, the mother of his children; two sons: Pete Ellison and wife, Liz, and Joshua Ellison and wife, Jackie, all of Texas; six grandchildren: Shane, Cheyenne, McKensey, Dayson, Joshua, and Ziyah; his siblings: Ruth Ann Weatherston and husband, Richard, of Houston, Missouri, James Ellison of Ava, Missouri, Bill Ellison and wife, Shari, of Cabool, Missouri, Jesse Garza and wife, LaDawn, Daniel Garza, all of West Plains, Missouri, and Amy Robinson and husband, Doug, of Cabool, Missouri, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

Cremation is under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove, Missouri. A private burial will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery, West Plains, Missouri.
