David Bell

May 25, 1953 — April 13, 2019

David Scott Bell, son of the late Frederick and Barbara (Kramer) Bell, was born May 25, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, and passed away April 13, 2019, at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 65 years, 10 months, and 19 days of age.

As a child, David’s family lived in Pasadena, California for 12 years. They moved to Lincolnshire, Illinois, where David attended high school, and would also meet his future wife, Cheryl. After graduation, David attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and then he also lived in Jamaica for about one year.

David married Cheryl Oehring on July 31, 1976, in Lincolnshire, Illinois. They moved to the mountains of Bailey, Colorado, where they raised goats and David worked in construction. He became a Special Deputy Sheriff there, and he became a Christian in 1981. He and Cheryl were blessed with two children: Jonathan in 1982, and Cristen in 1984. David served as a deacon at their church in Colorado, and he was also the Awana leader and 4-H leader.

David and his family moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri in October of 1996, and he became a full-time beef farmer. He and Cheryl joined First Free Will Baptist Church and David also became a Gideon.

David was an avid hunter and fisherman, and an all-around outdoorsman. He enjoyed skiing, biking, running, hiking, and playing volleyball and softball. He had a photographic memory and was very knowledgeable about trivial facts, especially wildlife facts. He also really enjoyed playing practical jokes.

David was preceded in death by his daughter, Crissy Bell, and by his parents, Frederick and Barbara Bell.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of the home, his son, Jonny Bell and his wife, Crystal, of Mountain Grove, three grandchildren, Jake, Jasmine, and Jace Bell, two sisters, Marsi Winter and her husband, Kendall, and DeDe Imhoff and her husband, Mark, nephew and niece, Ned and Katie Imhoff, close cousin, Janet Sue Osalkowski, and many other friends and neighbors who will miss him.
