David Dake

September 8, 1954 — May 20, 2022

David Lynn Dake, son of the late Bernell Dake and Lona "Maydell" (Cottengim) Dake, was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri, on September 8, 1954, and departed this life on May 20, 2022, after courageously battling health issues for the past year. David was 67 years, 8 months, and 12 days of age.

David was raised in the Norwood area. Once you met David, he was a man you couldn't easily forget. He never knew a stranger and always had a smile to greet you. After leaving home David worked various jobs which included the shoe factory, steel plant, feed mill, milking cows, farming, dozing, driving a dump truck, and as an over the road truck driver. David was a hard worker and taught his children how to work hard for what they have by being a great example.

As much as David liked to work and stay busy, he loved his family even more and spent as much time as he could with them making memories. David married his first wife, Shirley (Berry) Bell, and to this union his two sons were born. David met Debbie in September 1989, and to this union added two daughters completing their family. David enjoyed going hunting and fishing as much as he could and enjoyed it even more when he took his children and grandchildren with him. He also had a love for horses.

When his daughter, MaryAnn, married Rusty Potter, David gained more than just another son, he gained a new best friend. David and Rusty spent a lot of their time together when they weren't working their jobs. They were either working the cattle, putting up hay, or occasionally taking off with a boat to catch some fish. Working wasn't so bad when you enjoyed having a friend to help get it done.

David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by so many.

David was preceded in death by his parents and oldest son, Rodney Dake.

David is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, of the home, his son, Bradley Dake of Dora, Missouri, his daughter, Kisha Parmenter and significant other, Dex Mason, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, his daughter, MaryAnn Potter, and husband, Rusty, of Hartville, Missouri, his sister, Bernetta Williams, and husband, John, of Norwood, Missouri. David is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, who were the stars in his eyes and the light of his life: Hunter, Riley, Ellie, Kylie, Lilly, Bailey, Ashley, Abby, Jayden, Kaylee, and Taylor. David also has 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
