David Lynn Barnes

May 6, 1955 — October 29, 2007

David Lynn Barnes, son of the late Ray and Elva (Strong) Barnes, was born on May 6, 1955 in Wright County, Missouri, and passed away on October 29, 2007 north of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 52 years, 5 months, and 23 days of age.
David grew up and attended school in Manes, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Sondra Powell in 1979 and four children were born to this union.
David was employed by L&R Industries in Cabool, Missouri for the past nineteen years as a shop foreman. He enjoyed his job and made many friends over the years while working.
He was a member of the A.B.A.T. E. Motorcycle Club which he enjoyed being a part of very much.
He also enjoyed motorcycle riding, dart throwing, fishing, and watching and collecting movies. He was a great Father, grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother: Imogene Barnes.
He is survived by his three sons: Travis Barnes and his wife, Melissa, of Marceline, Missouri, Bryan Barnes of Springfield, Missouri and Derek Barnes of Joplin, Missouri; one daughter: Carey Barnes and her fiancé, Marion Petty of Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers: Dean Barnes of Roby, Missouri, and Darrell Barnes and Rodney Barnes, both of Manes, Missouri; one sister: Neoma Lyman of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; a step-brother: Leroy Goldsmith; a step-sister: Beverly Hooper; four grandchildren: Jakouri Barnes, Lennon Barnes, Marion Petty and Troy Petty; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for David Barnes were held, Friday, November 2, 2007, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Junior Hutsell officiating and Derek Barnes speaking. The family video tribute was played during the service. Following the service, over forty motorcycle riders were escorted through town in his memory for one last ride. Service arrangements were under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
