David Parmenter

January 4, 1968 — February 14, 2019

David Austin Parmenter, son of the late Martin Parmenter and Mary (Wurtz) Parmenter, was born January 4, 1968, in Houston, Missouri, and left his earthly home February 14, 2019, in Springfield, Missouri. He was 51 years, one month and 10 days of age.

David was a very devoted and hard worker. After graduation from Mountain Grove High School in 1986 with vocational training in welding, David began building his own race car and raced on the dirt tracks in West Plains, Missouri. During this time, he was also working with his father on the family farm, doing custom dozing and baling hay. David did a variety of jobs which also included combining during seeding season. Most of his life was spent working with heavy machinery. There were not many pieces of equipment David couldn’t operate. He could run a dozer and change the landscape into something he was proud of. He was known for his excavation work and helped with the construction of Ace Hardware in Mountain Grove. He had recently returned from California where he had been running heavy equipment for a large company.

David also loved working with his hands using reclaimed barn wood to make bird houses, picture frames, and bed frames. He was in the process of starting his own business selling his wood works.

David and his dad were saved and baptized in June of 1980 when David was twelve years old. He took pride in singing in the church choir on Sundays.

David was preceded in death by his father, Martin Parmenter.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Parmenter, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one son, Dallas Parmenter and his wife, Tahara, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, three daughters, Kayla Trail of Dora, Missouri, Samantha McCay of Columbia, Missouri, and Emily Tirella of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren, Keira, Brentley, Remmie, and Zandrea, three brothers, William, Richard, and Danny Parmenter, three sisters, Edna Miller and her husband, Richard, Opal Neal and her husband, Randall, and Dolly McClearly and her husband, David, all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. He will live on in our memories and in our hearts.
