Delcie Mae Volner

December 6, 1917 — May 29, 2008

Delcie Mae Volner, daughter of the late William and Lilly (Baney) Skaggs, was born on December 6, 1917 near Cabool, Missouri in the Bendavis Community, and passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at her daughter’s residence in Viola, Arkansas following a long illness. She was 90 years, 5 months, and 23 days of age.
Delcie grew up in Texas County and was united in marriage to Lon Harvey Volner on May 29, 1937 in Bendavis, Missouri. Seventeen children were born to this union. They made their home in Texas and Wright Counties for many years. At the time of her passing, she was living with her daughter in Viola for the past two years. She and Harvey were happily married for over sixty years. Mr. Volner passed away on March 3, 1998.
Delcie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, cooking, and being outdoors, especially when working in her flower gardens.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons; one daughter; five grandsons; two granddaughters; five brothers; and by one sister.
She is survived by seven sons: Robert Volner of Harlem, Georgia, Roy Volner of Hartville, Missouri, Bill Volner of Fox, Arkansas, Jessie Volner of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Lynn Volner of Mtn. View, Missouri, Hubert Volner of Hartville, Missouri, and Eddie Volner of Mtn. View, Missouri; seven daughters: Margie Ruth Foster of Viola, Arkansas, Judy Richmond of Doniphan, Missouri, Faye Parsons of Mtn. View, Missouri, Reta Young of Hartshorn, Missouri, Naomi Perkins of Mtn. View, Missouri, Irene Stallsworth of Arroll, Missouri, and Patsy Stallsworth of Mtn. View, Missouri; three brothers: Jack Skaggs of Mansfield, Missouri, Lawrence Skaggs of Cabool, Missouri, and Phillip Skaggs of St. Louis, Missouri; forty-seven grandchildren; twenty-four step-grandchildren; seventy-four great-grandchildren; fifty-one step-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; eight step-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.

Saturday, May 31, 2008 - 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Saturday, May 31, 1:00 - 2:00 PM before the service.
