Delia Fern Nesbit

March 22, 1934 — August 6, 2019

Delia Fern Nesbit completed her journey home with peace and grace on August 6, 2019 with her family at her side.

Delia was born in 1934 and was the oldest sibling of Steve and Bob Murr. She was raised in the Bendavis community and attended Dunnsmore School. As a young wife, she lived in several states before returning to Mountain Grove to raise her 3 children as a single mother. She threw her energy into raising her family, guided by her strong faith in God and strong work ethic. She had a gift of hospitality, her kitchen was never closed and she always found a reason to laugh, even in the midst of many hardships. In addition to her infectious laughter, she was known for her green thumb and enjoyed the large gardens she planted every year.

In addition to milking cows, she worked at Brown Shoe factory for over 10 years and then went back to school to obtain her cosmetology license and worked with Edith Westfall as a hairdresser for a short time. In 1977 she became the first woman hired at Mid America Dairy in Cabool and retired at the age of 63. She was thankful God had blessed her hard work with a good retirement and for the many lifelong friends she made while working there.

Not one to be idle, she spent the next 10 years waitressing at El Rancho. On several occasions she received large tips and notes written on napkins from patrons thanking her for her service and for making their day a brighter one.

Next to being a mother and grandmother, her greatest God given gift was being a source of help to anyone in need. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest passion was helping others. Her faith was the source of her strength and an inspiration to all those who knew her.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Cleave, of 25 years in 1998, her parents, Elmer and Jewel (McGownd) Murr, a brother, Steve Murr and a baby sister who died at birth.

She is survived by her brother, Bob (Pat) Murr, her 3 children and their families: son, Bob Fullington of Marshfield, Missouri, daughter, Twilla (Alex) Maldonado of Fresno, California and daughter, Belinda (Eddie) Burch of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren: Michele (Donnie) Curran, Nitza Maldonado, Desirae (Justin) Bradshaw, Tauschia (Kevin) Beck, Brian Maldonado, and Sonya (Ben) Taylor; great grandchildren: Tyler and Kyle Curran, Zachary and Caleb Campbell, Tanner Bradshaw, Emilee and Khloe Maldonado, Jackson Beck and Nora Taylor, and nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Cox hospital for their kindness and care during her final hours and her many friends who never failed to check on her.

She leaves us rich in memories and is at peace, healed and experiencing a joyful family reunion in heaven.
