Doris Jean (Honeycutt) Alexander

Doris Jean Alexander, daughter of Samuel Augustus “Gus” Honeycutt and Margie Viola (Trimble) Honeycutt, was born May 29, 1927, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She departed this life on October 18, 2022, in Algonquin, Illinois, at the age of 95 years, 4 months, and 19 days.

On April 19, 1953, she was united in marriage to Charles Alexander in Mansfield, Missouri, and to this union two daughters were born. Charles preceded her in death on August 13, 1983. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria, her parents and brothers, Jack Honeycutt, and George Honeycutt.

Doris is survived by a daughter, Sandi Chmela and her husband Jim, of Algonquin, Illinois, as well as two grandchildren, Drake Chmela and his wife Hannah, and Sierra Chmela and her significant other Lucas Heatherington, all of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by her brother Carl Honeycutt and his wife Kay, of Houston, Missouri, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was born in Tulsa and raised in Mansfield, where she graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1944. She attended Southwest Missouri State for one year followed by Drury for a short time. After marriage, Doris and Charles made their home in Tulsa where they raised their daughters. For nearly 50 years, she worked in several different positions within the Child Nutrition department for Tulsa Public Schools, retiring at the age of 80. After retirement, she moved to Algonquin and lived with her daughter Sandi for 12 years before moving to an assisted living facility nearby in 2020.

Doris made a profession of faith in Christ at an early age and was a longtime member of the Mansfield First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a 30-year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In her spare time, she loved to sew, was an avid reader, and after her sight began to fail, she would listen to audio books.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and will cherish the special times we had together.

Victoria Alexander

Victoria “Vici” Alexander, daughter of Charles Alexander and Doris Jean (Honeycutt) Alexander, was born February 12, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and departed this life November 1, 2019, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 61 years, 8 months, and 19 days.

She was preceded in death by her father.

At the time of her passing, Victoria was survived by her mother Doris Alexander, sister Sandi Chmela and her husband Jim, nephew Drake Chmela and fiancée Hannah, and niece Sierra Chmela. She was also survived by uncle Carl Honeycutt and his wife Kay, cousins Allen and Dixie Honeycutt, Ross and Lisa Jones, and many other cousins and friends.

She was born and raised in Tulsa and lived in Denver, Colorado and Dallas, Texas before moving to Nixa, Missouri in early 2018. She had a long career as Director of Revenue Management for Starwood Corporation.

Victoria was of the Baptist faith. In her spare time she enjoyed her cats, crafting and, like her mother, was an avid reader.

Victoria was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin and is deeply missed by her family and friends.
