Dorless Genell (Carder) Merriman

Dorless Genell Merriman, daughter of the late Jacob Loranzo and Mary Elizabeth (Quesenberry) Carder, was born on August 10, 1924 in Manes, Missouri, and departed this life on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at her nephew’s residence north of Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She was 88 years and 15 days of age.
Dorless grew up in the Manes Community and attended the Green Forest School until eighth grade. She then went on to Mtn. Grove High School where she graduated in the Class of 1941.
She was united in marriage to Cecil Crisp. This union had two sons who were stillborn and a daughter, Marilyn Sue, who passed away on May 15, 2002. Mr. Crisp passed away on November 23, 1974.
Dorless later married Eugene Merriman on November 24, 1976. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1996.
Dorless was employed by the Brown Shoe Company in Mtn. Grove for a while. She later decided to stay at home and care for her family. In her spare time she liked to cook, quilt, and take care of her flower and herb gardens. She also liked to go for rides in the country.
Dorless enjoyed attending services at the Cross Roads of Faith Church north of Mtn. Grove until her health started failing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, stillborn sons, her daughter and her siblings.
She is survived by five step-children: Linda Pearson of Wrenshall, Minnesota, Susan Williams of Norwood, Missouri, Genie Schlafer of Wrenshall, Minnesota, Carol Agurkis of Moose Lake, Minnesota and Samuel Merriman of Seymour, Missouri; eleven step-grandchildren; twenty step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives, friends, neighbors and church family.
She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
