Dorothy Thelma Gaddis, 96 years, 3 months, and 25 days of age, was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Rogers) Crisp. She was born on October 22, 1917 in Manes, Missouri, and passed away on February 17, 2014 in the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, to join her Lord and Savior in the Kingdom of Heaven. She has been reunited with her husband: Avery “Red” Gaddis; her parents, and brothers, Giffin, Cecil and Angus Crisp.

Dorothy was born and raised in the Manes area. She was united in marriage to Avery M. “Red” Gaddis in 1941. Shortly after their marriage, they bought a farm in the Manes area, where she was living at the time of her passing.

Dorothy worked at H.D. Lee in Hartville, Missouri for many years. While working there, she and Red opened the Gaddis Grocery Store in 1960. She continued in the business until two years ago when she closed the store in November of 2011.

She was a hard worker and she enjoyed working in the grocery store and visiting with her friends and neighbors. She also liked being a homemaker, quilting, crocheting, and doing all kinds of crafts. Dorothy liked all kinds of animals, especially dogs, cats, and birds. She enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her garden each year and mowing her own yard, which she did until last year.

Dorothy was saved at a young age and was baptized in Beaver Creek in 1959.

She was a loving and kind person who will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by a daughter: Helen Wade of Mtn. Grove; one grandson: Randy Wade; one brother: Wayne Crisp and his wife, Shelia, of Mtn.
