Douglas Guy Dean

Douglas Guy Dean, son of the late Guy and Lucille Mae (Wright) Dean, was born on March 19, 1924 in Baird, Nebraska, and went to meet his Savior on Saturday, May 17, 2008 in Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness, at 84 years of age.
Douglas grew up and attended school in Nebraska and moved to Missouri as a young man. He was united in marriage to Lucille Patterson on December 15, 1942 in West Plains, Missouri. Six children were born to this union.
He was saved in 1948 and was a longtime member of the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church near Mtn. Grove. He enjoyed attending services as long as his health permitted. He liked being outdoors, especially when tending to his farm, fishing with his wife, Lucille and his special friend, Ronnie Turner.
He also enjoyed restoring antique John Deere tractors.
Douglas will be missed by those who knew and loved him, especially a dear friend and nighttime caregiver, Wilma Hicks.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Frank Dean and Garold Dean.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years: Lucille Dean of their home near Mtn. Grove; two sons: Leslie Dean and his wife, Linda, of Pomona, Missouri, and Charles Dean and his wife, Brenda, of Mtn. Grove; four daughters: Cleta Collins and her husband, Sam, of Pomona, Missouri, Mable Cox of Grand Junction, Colorado, Linda Reed and her husband, Doug, and Elina Crewse and her husband, Delbert, all of Mtn. Grove; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church.
