Doyne Hicks

July 4, 1927 — December 1, 2020

Doyne Willie Hicks, 93, of Mountain Grove, died December 1, 2020, at Maranatha Nursing Home in Springfield, Missouri. He was born July 4, 1927, in Rock Bridge, Missouri, the son of Willie Warren Hicks and Mable Hester Edwards Hicks.

He was married to the love of his life, Gracie Lillian Hicks, in 1950. Doyne was a loving and devoted father to three beautiful daughters, Janice Shera, Nina Davis, and Ruby McDaris.

Doyne was a proud World War II veteran, having reached the rank of Corporal. Upon completing his military service, he settled in Mountain Grove. He worked various jobs before settling into a successful and long-term career with Meeks Lumber Company, where he retired after several decades of faithful service. Upon retirement, he and Gracie enjoyed their years together, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

His commitment to his community, faith, and family was evident in all that he did. Doyne always had a way to inspire a smile, a moment of laughter, and a genuine connection with anyone he met. He had a warmness in his smile, greeting, and handshake that anyone could relate to. Throughout, Doyne was a real gentleman with an unshakable belief that this world was a temporary home. He knew his final destination and looked forward to that moment he could rejoin Gracie and so many other loved ones that had gone on before him.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Gracie Lillian Hicks, father, Willie Warren Hicks, mother, Mable Hester Edwards Hicks, sister, Lorene Hicks, brother, Troy Hicks, and grandson, Greg Rippee.

Doyne is survived by his three daughters, Janice Shera and her husband, Preston, Nina Davis, and Ruby McDaris, and was a proud grandpa to eight grandkids, twelve great-grandkids, and even a few great-great-grandkids.
