Earnest Clayton Atterberry

November 6, 1940 — April 18, 2014

Earnest Clayton Atterberry, son of the late Floyd and Pearl (Bowling) Atterberry, was born on November 6, 1940 near Bloodland, Missouri and departed this life on April 18, 2014 at his home near Lynchburg, Missouri. He lived to the age of 73 yrs. 5 months and 12 days. Clayton grew up in the Buckhorn/Laquey area where he loved hunting and exploring with his brothers. At a young age he was baptized and was a member of the Buckhorn Baptist Church. Later in life he attended Embree Church until his health began to fail. He entered the Army in August of 1964 and was honorably discharged in August of 1966. Clayton married the love of his life Vera Maye Robinett on December 25, 1964. This union was blessed with three children. Clayton and Vera raised their family in a loving household, on a small farm south of Lynchburg. Clayton was a loving and dedicated father and the happiness brought to him by his family showed in his laughter and smiling blue eyes. He was a best friend, loving husband, respected father, and proud grandpa. Clayton worked in the timber industry for most of his life, driving log trucks, cutting timber and running his own logging business. The last several years he logged for his brother Albert, which he greatly enjoyed. Farming, being outdoors, reading western novels, watching western movies, and spending time with his wife and family was what brought Clayton the most pleasure. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Leon Atterberry; one sister: Roberta Biram: and by a nephew Brian Lipe. He is survived by his wife: Vera Maye Atterberry; his daughters: Anita Munyon and her husband, Jared, of Cane Hill, Arkansas, Lisa Supancic and her husband, Rick, of Lynchburg, Missouri; one son: Donald Atterberry and his wife, Tammy, of Lynchburg, Missouri; five grandchildren: Jalen, Jacob, and Luther Supancic, Devin and Clay Atterberry; two brothers: Albert Atterberry of Richland, Missouri and Jack Atterberry of Conway, Missouri; two sisters: Joanne Walzak of Chesterton, Indiana and Shirley Lipe of Raymond, Illinois; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to each of the wonderful nurses and caretakers who assisted in the care of Clayton for the past several years. These workers are a true blessing. Clayton will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him and he leaves behind many wonderful memories that will always be cherished.
