Edith Pitcher

Edith Norene Pitcher, daughter of the late William Tom and Maude (Greenley) Smart, was born on October 5, 1922 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and passed away on March 14, 2014 at her daughters residence near Mtn. Grove. She was 91 years, 5 months and 9 days of age. Norene grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove area. She was employed at the Brown Shoe Company in Mtn. Grove for many years. Norene raised seven children on her own. She had a special bond with each of them and enjoyed bragging about them to those around her. She loved telling everyone she met how blessed she was to have such great kids. Norene enjoyed being outdoors, especially when planting flowers in her flower gardens each year and cooking for her family. She loved having all of her children and grandchildren around her. She truly enjoyed family get-togethers where there was a lot of singing and joking. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; two sons: Charles and Larry Davault; one daughter: Bessie Shorty Craig; two grandsons: William Dale Scott and Chad Burke; and by an infant great-great-granddaughter. She is survived by one son: Bill Davault and his companion, Virginia Strunk, of Mtn. Grove; three daughters: Sharon Dawson and her husband, Jack, of Mtn. Grove, Karen Bradshaw and her husband, Butch, of Norwood, Missouri, and Colleen Gilley and her husband, Norman, of Mtn. Grove; twenty-one grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Memorial Visitation: Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 1:00 2:00 PM in the Chapel. Burial: Lone Star Cemetery (at a later date) Memorial Contributions: St. Judes c/o the funeral home.
