Edward 'Paul' Carty

October 18, 1927 — February 9, 2014

Edward Paul Carty, son of the late Rev. J.J. and Martha (Coats) Carty, was born on October 18, 1927 in Simmons, Missouri in Texas County, and departed this life on Sunday, February 9, 2014 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 86 years of age.
Paul grew up in the Simmons Community and attended school in Cabool and Houston. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Sympson on August 26, 1952 in Marshalltown, Iowa. One daughter, Paula, was born to this union. They made their home in the Mtn. Grove area for many years.
Paul was employed by the Fruit Experiment Station in Mtn. Grove, working in the maintenance department for several years. He later retired from the foundry at Mans Steel in Mansfield, Missouri.
Paul enjoyed playing pool, shuffle board, and singing karaoke. He also liked to do small engine repair work in his shop.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion Post 30, and the Masonic Lodge, all of Mtn. Grove.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Scott, whom he shared a special bond with.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Leslie Carty, Jimmy Carty, and Earl Carty; and by a sister: Blanche Norfalise.
