Elitta (Sedlacek) January

Elitta January, 73, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, departed this life on September 24, 2011 at her home of more than thirty years. Elitta, daughter of Elizabeth (Pinter) Mitten and step-daughter of the late David A. Mitten, was born on August 1, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio. She earned her degree from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, which began her lifelong career in nursing.
In 1959, Elitta was united in marriage to Noah January; of this union, five children were born. They raised their family in Norwood, Missouri while their children attended Norwood School. She later moved south of Mtn. Grove and made her home there.
Elitta was a loving and caring daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved spending time with her family and visiting with her friends.
She enjoyed being outdoors; gardening, camping, canoeing and bird watching. She was a wonderful cook and an avid Bridge player. Ellita was a loving and compassionate woman who touched countless lives throughout her many years as a hospice nurse. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Elitta is survived by two sons: Luke January, (Norwood, MO), Eric January and his wife, Maria, (Huntington Beach, CA); three daughters: Carrie January, (Springfield, MO), Amy Brown and her husband, William, (Mansfield, MO), and Julie January-Ring and her husband, David, (Fair Grove, MO); her mother: Elizabeth Mitten (Twinsburg, OH): three sisters: Holly Mitten (CA), Norene Gideon (FL), and Tabby Ogrizek (OH); ten grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
