Emma Lea (Elliott) Worthen

February 10, 1935 — March 19, 2013

Emma Lea Worthen, daughter of the late Thomas and Lola (Cool) Elliott, was born on February 10, 1935 in McCool Junction, Nebraska, and departed this life on March 19, 2013 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, following a short illness. She was 78 years, 1 month and 9 days of age.
Emma grew up and attended school in Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Earnest Worthen on February 14, 1962 in York, Nebraska. Two children were born to this union. They moved to Salem, Arkansas many years ago and lived there for thirty years, before making their home in the Mtn. Grove area for the past three years.
While living in Arkansas, Emma worked in a cafeteria for twenty years before her retirement.
Emma enjoyed doing crafts, painting, and crossword puzzles. Her favorite pastime was spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Worthen on November 10, 2010; three brothers: Gerald, Robert, and Ronald Elliott; and by two sisters: Vera Jorgensen and Shirley Alvro.
She is survived by her son: Darren Worthen of Brownwood, Texas; her daughter: Debbie Worthen of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives, neighbors and friends.
