Ernest “Ernie” Charles Postlewait, son of Clyde and Wilma (Massey) Postlewait, was born on June 6, 1950 in Walla Walla, Washington, and departed this life on July 17, 2011 at his home near Mtn. Grove, Missouri. He was 61 years, 1 month and 11 days of age.
Ernie grew up and attended school in Missouri and graduated from Houston High School in 1969. He was very active in sports during his high school years.
He was united in marriage to Ruby Jones on July 11, 1969 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. One son and two daughters were born to this union.
He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, trap shooting and coaching ball teams.
Ernie was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a very friendly personality and he never met a stranger.
He was a member of the Dawson Archery Club north of Mtn. Grove.
He was preceded in death by his father: Clyde Postlewait; one brother: Delbert Postlewait; and by a grandson: Dustin Mathews.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years: Ruby Postlewait, of their home; his son: Donnie Postlewait of Creighton, Missouri; his daughters: Stacey Mathews and her husband, Chip, of Mtn. Grove; and Mandy Cottrell of Mtn. Grove; his mother: Wilma Postlewait; two brothers: Jeff Postlewait of Cleveland, Missouri, and Rod Postlewait of Smithville, Missouri; three sisters: Wanda Tate of Springfield, Missouri, Sherrie Dunkel of Plato, Missouri and Lisa Moore of Huggins, Missouri; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives; neighbors and friends who will sadly miss him.
