Eva Sue (King) Wright

December 28, 1951 — January 13, 2011

Eva Sue (King) Wright, daughter of the late Lester Lacy “Mac” and Bonnie Juanita (Shores) King, was born on December 28, 1951 in Norwood, Missouri and passed away on January 13, 2011 at St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri after a long illness. She was 59 years and 16 days of age.
Eva grew up and attended school in Kansas City, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Wright Jr., on September 21, 1969 in Kansas City. Four children were born to this union. They raised their family in the Norwood area where Eva was a cook at Norwood School for fifteen years. She was also a cook at the Mercy Hospital in Mansfield, Missouri while it was in operation.

She enjoyed all kinds of crafts and shared her enjoyment during Bible School each year. She also loved taking care of the babies in the nursery at church.

She was a loving, caring, and kind wife, mother, grandmother, sister, co-worker, neighbor and friend. She loved her family very much and especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed listening to her sons sing and play Bluegrass music and she loved going to Bluegrass festivals.

Eva was saved at a young age at the Highpoint Church in Raytown, Missouri and at the time of her passing, she was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending services at her church and at Corinth Baptist Church in Macomb, where her son-in-law Allen is the minister, as long as her health permitted.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother: Billy Joe King; and by a brother-in-law: David L. Drake in 1982.


She is survived by her husband: Joe Wright Jr., of their home; three sons: Charles Wright, and Michael Wright and his wife, Sandy, all of Norwood, Missouri, and Joey Wright and his wife, Venji, of Hollister, Missouri; one daughter: Amy Pritchard and her husband, Allen, of Macomb, Missouri; two brothers and their spouses: Paul and Pam King of Oak Grove, Missouri, and Harold and Georgia King of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters and their spouses: Jenny and Ivan Calhoun of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Carol and Gary Rea of Latour, Missouri; nine grandchildren: Lane and Ethan Pritchard, Tyler, Devin, and Cassie Wright, Hailey Lansdown, Avery Schamber, and the newest arrivals two months ago, twins: Josiah and Scarlette Eva Wright; numerous aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins and her church family.
