Farris L. Carder

July 13, 1928 — February 11, 2008

Farris L. Carder, son of the late Jacob and Mary (Quesenbery) Carder, was born on July 13, 1928 in Manes, Missouri, and departed this life on February 12, 2008 at his residence in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness, at 79 years of age.
Farris grew up in the Manes Community and was united in marriage to Rosa Rita Schuelke on August 25, 1948 in Mtn. Home, Arkansas. Two daughters were born to this union. They made their home in the Mtn. Grove, Missouri area for many years and had moved to Springfield, Missouri five years ago. Rosa preceded him in death on July 3, 2007.
Farris was a farmer most all of his life and enjoyed doing farm work and tending to his cattle. He liked being outdoors, especially when hunting with his hounds and beagles and going on trail and wagon rides. He also liked to do needlepoint, quilting, and embroidery work in his spare time to keep himself busy.
Farris was a member of the Crossroads of Faith Church north of Mtn. Grove. He enjoyed attending services while living in the Mtn. Grove area where he made many friends.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his one brother: Snowden Carder; and by four sisters: Ada Lathrom, Rosetta Carder, Ava Carder and Etta Dobbs.
He is survived by his two daughters: Vickie Adams of Springfield, Missouri and Nola McIntosh of Norwood, Missouri; one brother: Lester Carder of Mtn. Grove; one sister: Dorless Merriman of Mtn. Grove; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
Funeral services for Farris Carder were held Thursday, February 14, 2008, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Junior Hutsell officiating. Chaplain Franklin Reagan sang “Amazing Grace,” “I’ll Fly Away,” and “Mansion Over The Hilltop.” Pallbearers were Rickie Carder, Gary Carder, Thomas Volner, Jeff Craig, Justin Miller, and Larry Ratterree. Burial was in the Green Mountain Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.

Thursday, February 14, 2008 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
Visitation:
Thursday, Febraury 14, 1:00 - 2:00 PM before the service in the chapel.
