Faye Jean Bradshaw

May 27, 1925 — September 20, 2019

Faye Jean Bradshaw, daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Stark) Taylor, was born May 27, 1925, in Douglas County, Missouri, and passed away peacefully September 20, 2019, at Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove, Missouri, with family at her side. She was 94 years, 3 months, and 24 days of age.

Faye grew up in Douglas County. She married Cecil Bradshaw on April 19, 1945, in Norwood, Missouri. Twelve children were born to this union.

Faye enjoyed being a mother and grandmother and loved helping raise her grandchildren. Faye looked forward to the holidays and to planning big meals with all the family. She worked hard at providing for her family by canning, baking, and sewing. She loved to read and enjoyed Gospel music.

Her only attempt at driving was a few years after her marriage. Cecil was giving her lessons in an old Model T. During the lessons, the steering wheel came off and Cecil had to kick it in gear while holding two young children, Phyllis and Lyle. Some of her boys brought home frog legs to be skinned out and for her to fry. When she put them in the hot skillet, the legs jumped out. They were never allowed to bring home frog legs again.

Faye loved the Lord and attended church as long as her health would allow.

Besides her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, in 1992, one son, Lyle Bradshaw, one daughter, Phyllis Engelking, two grandchildren, Joshua and Kristy Bradshaw, one son-in-law, Lawrence Engelking, one brother, Oliver Taylor, her twin sister, Mae Ward, and her sister, Laverne Rodgers.

She is survived by five sons, Lowell Bradshaw and his wife, Mickey, of Sheridan, Wyoming, Glen Bradshaw and his wife, Darlene, Rex Bradshaw, Stephen Bradshaw, and Ted Bradshaw and his wife, Cindy, all of Norwood, Missouri, five daughters, Carolyn Williams and her husband, Jerry, of Macomb, Missouri, Norma Watts and her husband, Gary, of Norwood, Missouri, Joann Collins and her husband, Dwight, Joyce Riley and her husband, Gary, all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Lisa Mings and her husband, Randy, of Norwood, Missouri, one daughter-in-law, Sherri Bradshaw, twenty-nine grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
